About PTA

As the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) reminds our country of its obligations to children and provides parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child while providing the best tools for parents to help their children be successful students.

A Note from the President of Shadowridge PTA:

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the many volunteers who have given their time and talents to the SRMS PTA. You have helped to provide our students with the best possible educational experience. With your generous support we've been able to accomplish many things for our school, our students and their families. Over the past four years, the SRMS PTA has:

• Achieved 100% PTA membership based on enrollment
• Achieved 100% Faculty PTA membership
• Sold School Supplies at Orientation and assisted Cub Camp attendees
• Held two Scholastic Book Fairs, with profits directly benefitting our library
• Donated a portion of our Fall Book Fair profits to the Julian Academy in New Orleans
• Assisted Student Council in hosting School Dances by providing chaperones and refreshments
• Coordinated the Texas PTA Reflections Contest with 45 student entries
• Coordinated the Environmental Awareness Program with 2 student entries
• Provided an Anti Bullying assembly to all grades via R5 Productions
• Assisted the school with holding a Mock Presidential Election
• Presented the Aim for Success Program on Sexual Abstinence to the 7th Grade Students and Parents
• Provided student tickets to attend the Movies after TAKS testing
• Funded supplies to our Knitting Club
• With the help of Student Council and NJHS, coordinated five community service projects
• Purchased headset microphones for use by choir and theatre arts
• Purchased tuners and pick ups for orchestra
• Purchased replacement letters for the school marquee
• Sponsored a holiday door decorating contest
• Funded SRA Reading Lab and class sets of two novels
• Funded materials for reading curriculum on Media and Mythology
• Purchased a magazine rack for the library
• Purchased seat back covers with school logo
• Purchased color ink toner for the three student computer labs
• Awarded three Texas PTA Life Memberships and one Texas PTA Extended Service Award
• Encouraged participation in LISD Council of PTA's Bowling for Scholars fundraising event (SRMS had eight teams)
• Achieved Highest Honor for the PTA scrapbook at the Texas PTA Area 16 Spring Conference
• Applied for the Texas PTA/Texas Library Association's PTA/School Library Collaboration Award
• Applied for Texas PTA's Parent Involvement Award
• Submitted PTA scrapbook for judging by LISD Council of PTAs
• Provided hundreds of volunteer hours at numerous other activities throughout the year.
